The Inside Scoop On Our Patented KICKASS Roasting Process
The beans selected for the EPO Blend are carefully scrutinized by our scientists to ensure they are free trade, organically grown, and contain the highest concentration of performance enhancing elements possible.
Following the screening process, the beans are roasted in our KICKASS reactor to exactly 9,050 degrees kelvin, (that's about the same temperature as the surface of our Sun) where they are transformed into our super dark performance enhancing EPO beans.
The beans are then evacuated from the reactor to the zero gravity silo. It is here that the very best, non traceable, performance enhancing chemicals are freed from their normal molecular bonds, and create triple branched chains. It is these triple branched chains that are preferred world over by leading experts for maximum performance.
The EPO Blend is then packaged at our European lab and shipped overnight in an all out effort to provide our customers with the freshest, best tasting, and best performing coffee beans money can buy.
The EPO Blend, it's new and available only at Bicycles Plus.
WARNING: Side effects from drinking this coffee may include but are not limited to effortless hill climbing, extreme sprinting power, and winning all races you enter. These side effects have been scientifically verified by laboratory tests using mice riding bicycles. See photo at right.

"More Gore" Photo Shoot
"More Gore" race organizer Tom Kavanagh and his crew of volunteers drew MTB racers of all ages from all parts of the province to Gore on July 8th.
The course, with a few new twists from years past was well received by all competitors. It was great to see so many youth out to the race enjoying themselves. The future of mountain biking in Nova Scotia has never looked so good.
Thanks to all who attended the race, all the volunteers who helped out, and a very special thanks to Tom for putting some much time and effort into getting the course ready to go and sacrificing his limited family time away from Jenn and Abby to make the race such a big success.

Another Tour Starting This Weekend
This weekend another Tour is starting that maybe some folks are not aware of.
Dr. Nicholas Giacomantonio (Halifax Cardiologist and Hearlandtour developer) is heading up a ride across the province of Nova Scotia to increase the awareness of the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle in the prevention and rehabilitation of heart disease.
Nicholas is a high energy guy that our staff and our Cycling Club admire, and I'm sure you will as well. He is guiding his core team of riders into major centers of the province, leading by example, and preaching the good word of the benefits of being active and staying healthy.
The Bicycles Plus Cycling Club membership is making an effort to support the Heartland Tour by joining Dr. Nick and his team on their July 11th journey from Bridgewater to Halifax.
We all support and wish Dr. Giacomantonio the very best during his Tour and are happy to be a sponsor of the ride and want him to know we are proud to have HeartLand Tour jersey prominently displayed in our store. Good luck Nicholas from all of us at Bicycles Plus.

The Italian Job
It was back in March that Peter Dwyer told me he wanted a new bike. The criteria was it had to be all Italianno through out. A Colnago C50 frameset, full Campagnola Record grouppo, Fulcrum Race 0 wheels, Deda carbon bar and stem, and last but definitely not the least, a white Selle Italia saddle. (Who could ride a bike like this with anything but a white saddle?)
The challenge was to get the frame first, from the sole North American distributor who has a very limited supply of the much coveted C50 frame, and the rest would be a breeze. Wrong. The frame was in the shop within a week and a half of us ordering it, and it proved to be a conversation piece before and after many Saturday morning rides. Now onto the other part of the story.
Campy products have always been a piece of cake to get a hold of, but with the introduction of their new 2007 Record group, supply has been extremely limited in North America. The delivery date on the group was pushed back two or three times and it seemed every time Pete came in for an update, there was more bad news. His shining white saddle and bar were not available in Canada and had to be brought in from parts unknown. I tracked the shipment into the country and then watched it go right back out to the supplier we purchased it from. The reason? Not enough paperwork to satisfy our diligent Customs guys. Keeping our country safe from insurgent bike handlebars and saddles is very serious business.
On April 24th we get good news. The Record kit is in and on a plane heading towards us. Awesome! I email Pete with the good news and tell him he will have his bike ready for the weekend. I arrived at the shop at 10 the following day with an extra skip to my step as all the pieces of the puzzle had finally come together. That's when Tom drops the bombshell. It seems the grouppo that was supposed to be on the plane heading towards us never left, and the shipment that arrived at our suppliers has already been cleaned out and they will have no product until mid June. At this point I head to the back room with my revolver in hand, planning on putting an end to my misery. (Not really folks, it just sounds more dramatic with that line in there)
I'm sure at one time or another everybody has been in a similar position where the only thing left to do is let the Big Guy upstairs take control of a bad situation. Before calling Pete with the devastating news, I called one more supplier, who had already told me over and over that they would have no Record groups on hand until June. Sarcastically I told the gentleman on the other end of the line that he had an opportunity to make my day. "Tell me you have a full Record Grouppo in stock". "Actually we have a shipment coming through the door as we speak, I'll check it out and get back to you" he says. A minute later I get the call. It's green lights all the way, and the kit is flown in overnight. The rest is history, and that's the story of the Italian job.
Thanks again Pete for all of your patience, understanding and the billion dollars worth of Tim Horton shares. Your generosity to absolutely everybody amazes me.

How Tommy Got His Groove Back
| I have been thinking about how long I have been riding a bike. I have thought about it in a lot of ways, you know like years, days, hours or minutes. There was a series of events that happened in the last few years that got me off the bike. You know how it is when you get out of the routine. I turned 40, got my drivers license, had a child and gained 20lbs. Along with other business and personal changes. I guess I just needed a break after 30 years of riding. The problem is that when you decide you want to ride with some buddies you haven't hung out with for a whileand actually go out riding with them, you can get pretty demoralized by the fact that they are kicking your arse. I used to kick a lot of these arses. (You know who you are)So you don't ride for a little longer. Well after 3 years of not riding a whole lot, I started riding my road bike again. Painful as it was I started to get into it and getting some miles in. Started going off road again and almost able to keep up with my buds. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a new bike this past Nov. A Giant Reign XO. 6 and a half inches of travel. I have been a hardtail guy my whole life, so to go to a bike like this was a leap. I don't know how to explain the fun I had on the 1st ride. This bike rides like a dream. It is 32lbs of fully suspended sunshine. The Maestro rear suspension design is flawless. It climbs like a mountain Lion considering the amount of rear suspension that it has. For all of it's climbing prowess it really starts to shine when you go down. This bike is going to get me killed!!! The Fox front and rear suspension work so well together. The Avid Juicy 7 brakes stop like no other brakes I have felt before. The SRAM XO shifting is so crisp (I have never been a fan of SRAM shifting till now) and clean.I have ridden a lot of bikes in the past 10 years from a lot of different companies and nothing can compare to the Reign. I have been riding a lot more lately. The Reign has given me my groove back. Thank you Giant for designing what all the magazines are raving about, Maestro.

Jose's Secret Weapon Revealed
| Ok, anybody who has ridden with Jose knows he has Super Human powers when it comes to hill climbing, but now our worst fears have come true. No, he’s not riding for the other guys, but he has decided to turn his attention to bringing his time trialing ability up to the same extremely high level as the rest of his racing portfolio. This is bad news for anyone who has Jose in their sites for the BNS points series.Last week Jose released photos of the latest addition to his TT arsenal, a custom painted Spider Man TT helmet, which along with his TT bike equipped adorned with the latest and lightest components that are available to mankind, should present an opponent of Super Human proportions for all riders in the upcoming 2007 Nova Scotia Race Series.
